HEY! Hey, you. Yes,
you. I have a quick thing to share with you before you continue reading. First
of all, this post is in collaboration with Anisa
of The Macadames. With her living
Australia and me here in the states, my fall is just beginning while hers is
ending. We decided to bridge the gap and make some delicious recipes using the
seasons favorite; apples. After you’re done reading this post, head over to her
site for a delicious baked apple
recipe, which wink, wink looks to die
to for! But firsts, this post. This post is a bit different from the
traditional blog posts I write. To be frank, I hate writing blog posts and I need
a change of pace. A few weeks ago, I had the idea to combine my love of fiction
writing and food writing, and this is what came about. My thought for this is
to write short little scenes involving the recipes I’m posting about. I hope to
capture the art of culinary storytelling even further by creating my own
stories. Disclaimer: these are far from Pulitzer Prize-winning pieces or
anything, so take it for what it is, a young man’s fictitious anthology of
food.

Cheddar Cheese & Chive Buttermilk Biscuits + captures of spring

Hello, friend.
I love biscuits. You know the type, the ones you can only find in that hole-in-the-wall, backroad diner somewhere deep in the heart of the South. A place where the cookin’ is good and the waitress refers to everyone as “honeychile”. I love those kind of biscuits with their golden tops and buttery layers. Pulling them apart releases a steady trail of steam that ascends upwards. A heaping spread of jam or apple butter layered gracefully over each piece and you have got yourself a mighty fine breakfast. There is something so rustic and beautiful about a homemade biscuit. Growing up, it was one rare occasion Momma Crawford would make biscuits homemade (Father prefers the store bought kind. I know, he’s crazy!) But when she did…oh momma YES!
Roasted Sweet Balsamic Peaches Stuffed Honey Buttermilk Bread
Hello, friend.
What is this?! Two
recipes posted consecutively one week apart? Am I sensing a trend?? I would
love to say this consistency will stay, but you all know that’s not happening!
At least I’m honest with you all. That should could for something, right? The
inspiration for this recipe came across during one of my many frequent midnight
Pinterest scrolls. I stumbled upon this recipe for Honeyed Buttermilk Bread and I was immediately hooked. I knew I
needed to make that bread. It just looked so perfect. Though, how was I going
to make it my own? What could I do to elevate this already beautiful looking
bread? Stuffing it with roasted peaches of course!
