Hello, friend.

The Thanksgiving feast has come to a close! As you rinse your last dinner plate and arrange the empty assortment of pots and pans to dry, you give a sigh of relief. It’s over. The family fed, the wine half finished, and the day coming to a close. All you want to do is put your feet up and watch a movie. What better way to congratulate yourself but with a movie night??  But what to accompany your movie endeavors? You think of popcorn. An excellent idea! Though store bought popcorn is so…what's the word….inadequate, especially for a movie night like tonight. Your culinary inhibitions need to be next level. You need to go all Ida Garten on that popcorn. It’s time to infuse some butter and get popping.

Hello, friend.

I know this is my second grape recipe in a row. Don’t patronize me! Times are hard and utterly arduous as a college student. Though in all honesty, I had extra grapes stored tightly in an empty yogurt container in my freezer. I take what I can get. Soooo, it’s Thanksgiving time! I, like every other food blogger on the interweb, LOVE the holidays. There is something completely mesmerizing about the art of gathering around a big table, surrounded by the warmth of food, and having the air filled with light-hearted conversation between loved ones. The act of bringing people together is what I cherish most about this time of year. That, and the insane amount of food

“Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.”

-          Robert Frost “Nothing Gold Can Stay”

Hello, friend.

Halloween was recently upon us. The holiday brings about a season of change. Autumn colors turn to bleak, white winters. Falling leaves become glistening snow. It’s a time of reflection. I find beauty in this time of simplicity. I find joy in the pace of change. Finding new light and choosing an undiscovered angle pushes me to discover and grow. The mundane revives me. It teaches me to take life one step at a time, to appreciate less and cherish more. It tells me that nothing can stay forever. No flower blooms for eternity. So, as I hold tightly to my pumpkin spice latte and listen to “Monster Mash” for the eight-hundredth time, I’m reminded that time forever ticks onward. That also means Christmas is quickly drawing near.
